In 1992, Donna George began work as a receptionist at Hospicare and Palliative Care Services. 18 years later she remains deeply committed to listening, supporting and learning from the families, friends and neighbors in our community who are learning to live with loss. Currently she coordinates Hospicare’s bereavement program which last year served more than 450 individuals in our community.
At the same time as she held a busy and often emotionally demanding job at Hospicare, Donna raised three children and earned her Bachelor’s degree in Human Services and later her Master’s in Social Work. For the past 11 years, she has coordinated Hospicare’s bereavement program with compassion, generosity, and a smile that warms all those who come in contact with her.
Knowing that so much of Donna’s time is spent being present to people’s pain and grief I am constantly moved by how open she is, how quick to laugh and how she so clearly loves life and cares deeply about all her fellow-beings. She seems to have an endless capacity to give and it is an honor and pleasure to work with her.
